What Does Heaven Sound Like?

by RK Castillo

Colossians 3 says to  “…set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

As I’ve tried to set my affections and mind on heaven, I began to wonder what it sounds like?

So I’ve been meditating on the verses where you get a glimpse of the throne and asking the question “what would you hear?”

The more I chew on these verses the more I’m convinced there is only one thing that matters.

Let’s look at a couple of these….

“Each of the four living creatures…Day and night they never stop saying: “‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty.”  Rev 4:8

24/7, day and night, those closest to the throne cry out, “Holy, holy, holy.”  And whenever they cry out 24/7, the elders fall down before Him and worship and say “You are worthy…”

The very next scene in Revelation 5, John begins to weep because there is no one found worthy.  Then an angel comes to him and says “Don’t weep! See!”

Because there’s a worthy one if he will look.

So, John looks and sees a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain.  This Lamb took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne and the elders fell down before the Lamb…

And what do you hear?

“You are worthy…”

Why is the Lamb worthy?

“because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.”

I just spent a week in the Philippines teaching in a missions training school.  Just in the Philippines alone they have 110 different tribes and 186 different languages!  Jesus is worthy because he laid down his life and paid the price for people from every one of those 110 tribes!

Then Revelation 5 ends with the sound of “every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, FOR EVER AND EVER!”

Can you imagine what every created creature proclaiming praise to the Lamb would sound like?

Ok…one more….

In Revelation 7, the lamb receives the reward of his suffering. Remember how it says he paid a price for people from every tribe and language and people and nation?

Look what happens!

“After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb… And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”

Heaven sounds like multitudes worshipping the Worthy Lamb. And do you know what matters to this Lamb?

People from every nation, tribe, and language.

As you set your affection on Heaven, may you worship the only worthy one and may you find yourself going and sharing with the world about this worthy one so he can receive the reward of his suffering.
